My first job in marketing

My first job in marketing was a glorified data-entry role, but the clients I serviced were industry behemoths like Samsung, Ford, and AT&T. Working there, I learned 2 surprising things that changed how I saw marketing forever:

Even many "experienced" marketers have no idea what they're doing

I worked in veteran teams that sometimes lucked into great results… but they struggled to reliably replicate it. When the pressure was on, even the senior marketing professionals joined me in “busywork” like mass-emailing spreadsheets of influencers to beg for tweets (please never do this 🙄).

Marketing at big companies is no different than at smaller companies

It’s easy to look at world-famous corporations and think they’re impossible to beat. But marketing departments aren’t a singular organism that scales perfectly as you throw money and people into it. 

Every company is just a collection of individuals — individuals you can outmaneuver with the right guidance. 

For example: even marketers working for *Google* have been caught using shady, black hat SEO techniques. Yes, the top search engine was found guilty of violating its own SEO rules. They had to manually drop their own webpages lower in Google searches just to keep things fair. No matter who your competitors are, there ALWAYS exists a path to the top. My job is to help you find it.
